Proper Wear of the Official United States Air Force Uniform

It is very important for every cadet to remember that you are in the United States Air Force uniform. You must conduct yourself properly at all times. PDA (Public Display of Affection) is prohibited. You will not use unacceptable language. You must show respect and courtesy to all those around you. Because you are wearing the uniform you stand out in public, so people do notice you. It is important that you conduct yourself properly.

 

Male Cadets

 

Hair

  • Must be clean shaven
  • Hair must be cut to where it is not touching the ears or collar. It must have a tappered appearance
  • Hair may not be worn in a fad style
  • Beards and goatees are not allowed
  • Sideburns are allowed, but must not go past beyond the lower opening of the ear
  • Male cadets may not wear earrings 

Female Cadets

 

Hair

  • Hair may be worn in a appropiate style, but hair may not pass the bottom of the collar
  • Pins and barrettes that are the same color of your hair may be worn
  • Watches and rings may be worn, but no more then three
  • A non distracting bracelet may be worn
  • Cosmetics are allowed, but be conservative

Uniform Requirements for Male Cadets

 

Belt

  • The belt is threaded through the loops to your LEFT.
  • When it is buckled, only the metal on tip of the belt is shown.

Windbreaker

  • Will be zipped at least half way up when worn.
  • The wind breaker may only be dry cleaned, never washed.

Shoes and Socks

  • Shoes must be shined to a high gloss at all times
  • The socks must be black or a dark blue

 

Pants

  • The dark blue pants must be dry cleaned, never washed.
  • The rear pocket of your pants will be buttoned at all times.
  • Whatever you carry in the pockets of your pants may not be visible.

Service Coat

  • The service coat must be dry cleaned, never washed.
  • Never put anything into the pockets of your service coat
  • The necktie will not be removed or loosened even through the coat is removed.
  • Don't remove the coat when you are eating.
  • The coat will always be buttoned

Shirts

  • The shirts may be laundered after each wearing.
  • Medium starch will help keey the shirts neat

Nametag

  • Worn in the middle over the right shirt pocket

 

Uniform Requirements for Females

  • Worn centered on the right side of the blouse between lapel and arm seam 1 to 3 inches higher than top button

 

General Rules

·                     You must wear your uniform every Wednesday or when the instructors tell you to. You will receive a failing grade if you refuse to wear it.

·                     Always wear you flight cap when outdoors off the school campus. When you are outdoors on a school campus, you do not have to wear the flight cap. Never wear the flight cap indoors.

·                     Wear only authorized insignia

·                     Never put your hands in your pockets

·                     Your GIG line is the line made by the shirt buttons, the belt buckle, and the fly of your pants. They should always be in line

·                     Cut off any loose strings

·                     Do not carry bulky items in your pockets

·                     Shoes must always have a high glossy shine

·                     Carry items in your left hand so that your right hand is free for saluting

·                     Do not carry your backpack with straps over your left shoulder because it may ruin your ribbons

·                     Necklaces are not allowed

·                     Performing PT(physical training) or labor while in uniform is prohibited
