Summer Leadership school is a one week program that takes 20 selected cadets to go and receive their training to become officers of the corps the following year. If you are interested in becoming an officer, it is mandatory that you be selected to attend leadership school. In order to be chosen you must go through an interview process, write an essay on why you should be chosen to go, and show your dedication to ROTC throughout the entire year. Only 20 cadets are selected to go, mostly high school and usually only six freshman. Leadership school is a lot of hard work to go through in that one week that you are there. It is a lot of PT, drilling, and leadership training.

If you are a cadet who has attended leadership school and would like to have your story posted on this page, please send it to us at texas66net@lycos.com with your name, and the year that you attended leadership school.

Hey everyone,
I saw on the website that you wanted stories from sls. Well, heres mine.  I attended summer leadership school this past summer, and it was a pretty interesting experience. I remember the best part though. I was guide for my flight and we were walking to the mess hall for lunch. I stepped over a curb and didnt say "safety."  so a CTO (cadet training officer) jumped in front of me and started saying "what, you think youre too good to call safety, are you too special for that, cant you remember something that simple" and blah blah blah. Anyways, as he was yelling he was walking backwards, and right as he started to get really mad he hit a bench and flipped over it!!! He couldnt see that he was about to hit it...tsk tsk tsk, he should have paid attention.  Oh yeah, and chris stole my uniform on the first day and I panicked because I couldnt find it...but its funny now.
