2007-2008 Del Rio High School TX-66 COLORGUARD

Commander:Cadet Chaise Corp
Executive Officer:to be announced
NCOIC:(to be announced)

The AFJROTC Color Guard is a very important part of the corps. The TX-66 Color Guard is responsible for presenting the American, Texas, and school and AFJROTC flags and providing a guard for said flags. Some of our duties involve presenting the colors at school functions, sporting activities, and other important activities in the community. Color Guard members must be dedicated and be able to practice often, as well as be able to perform on short notice. Being able to perform relies heavily on a cadet's willingness to attend practice.

Our Color Guard has the honor of presenting the colors at memorials, funerals, parades, and other special military functions. At these events, our Color Guard is required to display the utmost military bearing and pride, out of respect for those men and women who have fought and died for our country and our freedom. Our Color Guard represents our school, our corps, and most importantly our country, and, therefore, must perform to the best of their abilities.

Our Color Guard also has the opportunity to march in parades and to compete against other color guards from around the state in various drill meets. At these competitions, the color guard is required to have an impeccable uniform and display perfect execution of the commands given by the commander of the color guard.

Being a member of the AFJROTC TX-66 Color Guard is a rewarding and worthwhile experience, and those cadets in the Color Guard that attend 75% of the practices earn the Color Guard ribbon, and those cadets that attend 75% of the practice, perform in at least three events, and compete in a drill meet earn the privilege of wearing the Color Guard rope.

Practices are from 3:30-4:30 PM; Tues.-Thurs., and those cadets practicing for competition will occasionally practice in the morning before school.
